Official Rules

I. Purpose of Latino Athlete Scholarship Contest

Telemundo Atlanta is holding a Latino Athlete Scholarship contest, where the purpose of the scholarship is to help defray costs of enrolling in baseball leagues and/or obtaining future athletic scholarship(s) for college or a higher education institution.

II. Eligibility Requirements

· All High School Students (Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors) enrolled in the 2021-2022 school year.

· GPA of 2.5 or above

· Must provide proof of home address in State of Georgia

· Must be able to provide documentation to prove residency and GPA by June 23, 2022 if selected as a finalist.

· Preferred Level of Play: High School

· Must be available for an all-day on-field evaluation and baseball clinic on June 16, 2022. Location and time to be determined. Date/Time subject to change.

· Must be willing to be filmed and provide an interview to Telemundo Atlanta in English or Spanish and provide permission for Telemundo Atlanta to use audio/video for on-air and online digital media properties.

III. Method of Entry

Register by visiting https://www.telemundoatlanta.com/pagina/atleta-joven-latino/ Interested parties that meet eligibility requirements will need to enter the following by June 15, 2022 at 11:59 to be considered an applicant.

· Club Name/Baseball Team(s)/Leagues Played

IV. Entry Deadline

Entry Deadline to enter is June 15, 2022 at 11:59am EST. Time code will be stamped with each registration completed.

V. Judging Process

The judging process will be conducted by Telemundo Atlanta and/or Sponsors through a panel of judges to evaluate athletic ability, character, and academics. Additionally, on-line popularity of the finalists will be judged through a microsite hosted on Telemundoatlanta.com. The evaluation phases are outlined below.

Phase I. Registration window is open for eligible and interested applicants online at https://www.telemundoatlanta.com/pagina/atleta-joven-latino/. Application Window: May 14, 2022 at 8am to June 15, 2022 at 11:59am EST.

Phase II: Eligible applicants will be contacted on/before June 104, 2022, via email and/or phone to be invited to an all-day on-field Baseball evaluation and clinic to be held in metro-Atlanta on or around Monday, June 6, 2022, dependent on weather. A third-party organization will select the top finalist and will be ranked in order of athletic baseball ability. Telemundo Atlanta and Sponsors are not liable if applicants do not receive communication.

Phase III. Telemundo Atlanta will contact the top athletes selected from Evaluation Day to ask them to submit the following supporting documentation by June 23, 2022, at 11:59pm EST to create an online profile on a voting platform:

· Official School Transcript showing GPA (to be used for internal judging)

· 1 Letter of Recommendation (to be used for internal judging)

· 250 Word Essay on why they should be chosen for the scholarship. (to be used for internal judging)

· :60sec “About Me” video to be uploaded to their profile on the voting site.

Optional: Highlight reel or photos to be uploaded to the voting site.

If finalist(s) do not provide the above supporting material/information by the Phase III deadline (June 23, at 11:59pm EST), judges will not be able to assess the remaining criteria needed for the scholarship contest and will therefore be disqualified from being considered for the scholarship.

Phase IV: Telemundo Atlanta will take the supporting documentation and a judge of panelist will select up to (3) finalists for each category based on the following criteria:

· 33% Athletic Ability

· 33% Character/Scholastic (letters of recommendation, essay)

With the above 2 judging criteria in mind, up to (3) three finalists will be selected, and a microsite will be created featuring their profiles by June 28, 2022.

Phase V: On-Air and online audiences will be invited to vote for finalists during the voting period of June 28, 2022 to July 12, 2022 at 11:59pm EST. The finalist with the most votes by the deadline will be included in the final judging criteria for Telemundo Atlanta to select the recipient of the scholarship.

· 33% Popularity through digital on-line voting

VI. Winners Announcement

The finalists will be contacted via email or phone anytime on or around July 17, 2022 to be invited to an Awards Dinner on or around July 27, 2022, where the winners will be formally announced. The purpose of the Awards Dinner is to recognize young talented Latino athletes and assist families navigate the higher education process and/or scholarship application process. Telemundo Atlanta and Sponsors are not liable if the winners or finalists fail to receive the notification or invitation to the Awards Dinner. If winner(s) and finalist(s) do not claim their Scholarship Award by 5:30pm EST on August 30, 2022, they forfeit their cash prize.

VII. Scholarship Prize Award

The amount of the Overall Athlete Scholarship is $5,000 in cash prize. There will be one winner unless there is a tie. Scholarship cash prize awards will be presented at an Awards Dinner to be held on or around July 27, 2022 in metro Atlanta. Remaining finalist(s) will be awarded in the following categories:

$1,000 Pitching Award

$1,000 Hitting Award

Prize(s) can be used in any way the student and/or family feels advances their opportunity to compete for future athletic scholarship(s). Receipt of the cash prize is upon the condition of compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

VIII. Tie Breaking Rules

If up to three athletes have the same scoring based on criteria, scholarship amount will be evenly divided among the winners, respectively.

IX. Non-Eligible Participants

The Latino Athlete Scholarship contest is void where prohibited by law. Employees of sponsors and each of their affiliated companies, parents, subsidiaries, officers, directors, employees and their immediate families or family members are not eligible to participate in this scholarship application process. Any person employed by Telemundo Atlanta or sponsors at any time from January 1, 2022 through the conclusion of the scholarship contest will be considered an “Employee.”

To receive a list of winners or a printed copy of these Rules and Regulations, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Telemundo Atlanta, 4675 River Green Pkwy., Duluth, GA 30096. Please specify “Rules” or “Winners’ List”.

XI. No Purchase Necessary

No purchase is necessary to register or qualify to win.

Miscellaneous Rules & Policies

Agreement to Rules

By registering for the scholarship contest, entrants (or their parents or legal guardian if eligible minor) agree to abide by the Official Rules and decisions. Telemundo Atlanta and Sponsors have the right to refuse, withdraw or disqualify entries at sole discretion. Participants agree to accept the decision of Telemundo Atlanta and/or the Sponsor(s) as final and binding.

Rights Granted by the Entrant

Participants hereby grant Telemundo Atlanta and Sponsor(s) the right to use the participant’s submission, voice, likeness, image, video, statements for publicity, news, advertising, online profiles, promotional purposes without any further notice, review, compensation, or remuneration.

Additionally, if agreed upon at registration, Entrant provided information (name, phone number, address, and email) will be shared with program partners for marketing purposes.

Original Work

Personal essay, images, videos, and any supportive materials submitted for consideration must be original work and should not violate proprietary or intellectual property rights. If entries infringe upon copyright or intellectual property rights, participant will be disqualified and is solely responsible for any claims that arise because of infringement. Participant will defend against such claims at their sole expense, and shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Sponsors and Telemundo Atlanta from any suit.

Terms & Conditions

Telemundo Atlanta reserves the right to modify, suspend, cancel, or terminate the scholarship contest due to uncontrollable circumstances, such as an act of God, virus, fraud or other causes that control impact the fairness and proper administration of the scholarship contest.

Telemundo Atlanta reserves the right to disqualify anyone who violates the terms and will seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law in instances where the participant caused deliberate damage or caused disruption to the execution of the scholarship contest.

Limitation of Liability

Upon submission of the application to the scholarship contest, constitutes participant’s agreement to release and hold harmless Telemundo Atlanta and any Sponsors and its subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, and related parties against all claims, liability, illness, injury, death, and loss that occurs directly or indirectly from participation in the contest or use/misuse of the awarded prize.

Disputes

Entrants agree that (1) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with this Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and any judicial proceeding shall take place in a federal or state court within the State of Georgia; (2) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, if any, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) under no circumstances will contestant be permitted to obtain any award for, and contestant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, and consequential damages, and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrants, Prize Givers and Sponsor in connection with this Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia.

Contest Conditions

This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor and Judges and waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest or these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right to make changes or additions to these rules and/or change the dates of the Contest at any time.

Affirmation of Acceptance of and Agreement to All of the Official Rules and Policies

The participant understands that by entering the contest and selecting the checkbox labeled “I agree to Official Rules” on the entry form hereby states that the entrant (and/or their parents or legal guardian if eligible minor) has reviewed, accepted, and agreed to the Official Rules and Policies.
